Ram chair created by No Picnic design studio.
The Ram chair is a monolithic canvas that appears to defy the very notion of ergonomic form. As one sits, the rigid plane gives way, wrapping and cushioning the body in a custom fitting envelope of fabric, embracing the sitting person and filling up the canvas. Within the rectangular frame, one is positioned as in a portrait, the upholstery fabric changes its identity to give all the attention to the sitting person. Once the user leaves the chair, however, the elastic fabric snaps back into place, erasing any record of human presence and reasserting the object’s static sculptural qualities.
In production by Felicerossi since 2001, dressed by Missoni limited edition and acquired at the permanent collection of San Francisco Modern Art Museum since 2002.
