ABB YuMi

|2010| FRIDA. The Swedish-Swiss company ABB leading in robotics started in 2006 to think on creating an integrated concept robot focused on the electronics industry. After long research, in 2008 the first prototype was ready. Kenny Wong, a former colleague at No Picnic did his bachelor project for ABB Robotics. This project led to two years development work together with a large and international engineering team for realization of the project under the name FRIDA (Friendly Robot for Industrial Dual arm Assembly). FRIDA, an easy-to-install robot that can work safely next to humans, in places that are ergonomically designed for manual assembly, without the need for separating the workspace of human and machine.
No Picnic has been involved in the development of FRIDA and received in 2011 the design recognition Red Dot Award. Now FRIDA is ready to go to work in industry under its new name YuMi -the abbreviation of "You and Me”. Officially launched in 2015.
